Bi-injection button with spring effect

Challenge: Project to create a tool which can manufacture a button in two materials, adjusting the mold to a conventional injection machine.

Solution: In this case the aesthetic of the piece was important, therefore it was ensured that the visible area, wouldn’t have any imperfections. A safe method was developed to assurance that when the parts rotated after the first injection, they would not experience any displacement, thus guaranteeing the perfect fit into the second cavities. The injection machine was not originally adapted to bi-material tools, but with the aid of a hydraulic, this ineptness was overcome.

Result: Although the injection machine was not built for this type of molds, with the introduction of a rotary handle actioned by a hydraulic, this problem was overcome, thus obtaining a final product which respects the strict quality standards, for components of this nature.
